Cantata No. 02, Oil, 24x36", 2024

In Cantata No. 02, a canopy of vibrant green leaves enters from the edge of the canvas while two individual leaves drift freely across an expansive blue sky. The contrast between the dense foliage and the openness surrounding the falling leaves creates a sense of movement, space, and anticipation.

As part of the Nature’s Rhythms series, I think of the leaves almost like notes moving through a musical composition. The painting captures that brief moment when a leaf releases from the tree—still full of color and life, but carried now by forces beyond its control.
