In Comfort, a brilliant red leaf drifts away from the shelter of the tree, suspended against a luminous metallic ground. The contrast between the richly textured gold surface and the organic forms gives an ordinary moment in nature a sense of warmth and significance.

Part of my Nature’s Rhythms series, this painting reflects on the balance between holding on and letting go—the comfort of where we come from, and the beauty of allowing ourselves to move into something new.
